The Sequel - Ufoufo2: Hominid Catharsis

Once upon a time, Uzi Fox as well as Mihael Keehl were actually titled Ufoufo2 at some point. I knew from the inception of Ufoufo1 that a sequel was an inevitability, but as I came to the titling process toward the end of each album's creation I knew that they were too experiemental, not core enough to my sound. At the end of the day I'd been venturing so far from my source style, a Ufoufo2 was delayed again and again. Something happened after I recorded Joyboy. It was as if all of that mental blockage, that which halted Uzi Fox, nearly killed Mihael Keehl, paused the still-unreleased precursor to Joyboy, all of that obstacle had completely been obliterated. I was writing music with a newfound freedom. I sounded so... Ufoufoufo. So here it was, I knew by two tracks in, THIS was the album, THIS was the sequel to that humble mathcore beginning. This album is still so fresh in my mind, it's hard to say much. As I write this, the album has been out for only two months (though it feels like so much longer). What can I say other than this is my strongest foot forward? The production is at my best, the riffs are fun, the vocals are shredding, the lyrics are prose, and despite all of that it feels like just the beginning of the true Ufoufoufo era. This album is the one where I've found my sound. Experimentation will always be for me, but this is the style I want to hone. This is Ufoufoufo.

it is kinda funny to me when ppl say things in the vein of “jazz is perfect to represent rouge because of it’s chaotic nature”, cause like sure, okay, i can understand why you’d say that, but that’s the kinda thing you say when you have not listened to any jazz at all.

jazz can seem chaotic, sure, but it seems odd to me to define the whole umbrella of jazz as chaotic when you absolutely have not listened to actually chaotic sounding jazz subgenres like bebop. i just generally extremely dislike the descriptor of “chaotic” for jazz because i think it’s fundamentally untrue, there is absolutely logic and order in jazz, it’s built upon a rich tradition. jazz can be complex, frantic, energetic, and is often improvisational, but i don’t think it’s chaotic.

also i think that suits rouge far better than actual chaos, cause rouge is absolutely a complex and logical person, she just acts first and foremost on her desires

014 - Infant Island

Screechy chaotic hardcore (I'm way too old to call it "screamo") that reminds me of Pg.99, Orchid, Forcefedglass, and "Explosions in Ward 6" era Pig Destroyer... Ran across this stuff down the same rabbit-hole that led me to that Respire album I wrote about the other day and wound up liking it enough that I'm probably gonna pick up the CD and a shirt.

I see the church steps, a vision. Is there fiction in this one too? It's true, I've made a tale of it here, still, it's a little unclear, who's been haunting who. And time can be such a funny thing, always moving to the future, gloryfying the past and amplifying the pain in frames and glass. So was our touch half as sacred as I've made it seem? Or just another fabrication of a half-dream? Just those chemicals, the adolescent love. Just trying to grasp onto meaning, onto a purpose, onto a sense that something spiritual releases when the feeling hits.
